Situated in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, the Colonie building is a renovation of an existing construction. It now hosts three apartments and thirty equipped studios. As ‘housing units’, each one is designed to optimise the space and offer the greatest volume for living within the defined space. The furnishings are integrated and made-to-measure.
The street-facing studios extend outwards with the addition of a glazed “bow window” which offers an additional interior seating area. The varying depths of these boxes bring a textural vibration to the facade. A new gate was designed in perforated metal to protect the ground floor spaces from the street whilst remaining transparent enough to let in natural light.
